Description
BJE Tone Bender MKII Professional Reproduction Fuzz PedalNot a lot of Germanium Tone-Benders out there that will work with modern power supplies and pedalboards - never mind Sola Sound MKII Professional Replicas! This is the one!
This pedal uses our designed-in-house power circuit to replicate the -9V power needed by these vintage effects, without having to use special power supplies / isolated grounds and all that mess...this one's plug-n-play with just a normal Boss-style 9V DC jack
!
So you get pure vintage tone that'll go right on your modern pedalboard.
As with most of the
Tone-Bender
circuits, using this pedal is as simple as it gets - one knob on the left for
Volume
, one on the right for
Fuzz
, and the usual footswitch in the middle to turn it off/on. Intensity of the fuzz can also be adjusted with the volume knob on your guitar, which I'd definitely recommend as it's hard to get some of the lower-gain tones with just the controls on the pedal itself. Using this combination of adjustments, the pedal is capable of producing some more mild 'overdrive'-y sounds at lower gain/volume levels, whereas cranking the
Volume
and
Fuzz
controls (as well as your guitar volume) will deliver a supersaturated wave of vintage
fuzz.
For every pedal we build, we try
loads
of NOS Germanium transistors (seriously - 50+ transistors are auditioned for each pedal) to select transistors with the proper gain and leakage characteristics to match the originals. For this Tone-Bender MKII Pro replica, we've selected a triplet that
sounds
fantastic to our ears. While the tone is pure
Tone-Bender MKII
, but we've added some extra convenience features that have to be expected in the modern era, such as true-bypass switching. We've raised the output volume slightly to allow you to push modern amps (and keep impedance low) and raised max gain a tad, and our custom power circuit adds reverse-polarity / surge protection
.
All of this wonderful fuzz tone is crammed into a 125B enclosure, which has been painted black with the controls labelled in silver; the whole thing has been given a coat of gloss enamel clearcoat to make it really shine. This is a point-to-point handwired and hand-painted pedal - there are other black Tone-Benders, but none quite like this one! Our pedals are built with 100% American know-how and hard work in Somerville, Massachusetts - local pickup is often available by appointment. If you have questions about this pedal, custom modifications, or a completely custom project, feel free to shoot me a message!
Thanks for looking and
long live the fuzz!
